A new generation of flamenco guitarist in Madrid
Manolín García is part of an exciting new generation of flamenco artists from Extremadura who successfully combine traditional flamenco, academic training and artistic projection.
Born in Fuente de Cantos, in the Extremadura province of Badajoz, in 1987, his career brings together academic flamenco studies, national awards and a solid track record as both a performer and teacher.
Manolín García: training and academic excellence
Manuel García González, artistically known as Manolín García, studied Flamenco and Classical Guitar at the “Rafael Orozco” Conservatoire of Córdoba, where he graduated with honours.
After completing his flamenco studies, he continued to refine his technique at one of the leading institutions for flamenco training.
Throughout his development, he has studied with renowned flamenco guitarists such as Pedro Sierra, Manolo Franco, Niño de Pura, Paco Serrano, Manolo Sanlúcar, José Antonio Rodríguez and Eduardo Rebollar, amongst others. This combination of formal training and oral tradition has shaped his style, characterised by technical precision and deep respect for flamenco roots.
Awards and recognition
Manolín García’s artistic career is supported by a number of awards in specialised flamenco competitions. Notable distinctions include the 6th Young Musicians of Extremadura Competition (2006), the National Flamenco Guitar Competition of Jaén (2011), the Cristina Heeren Flamenco Accompaniment Guitar Competition (2011), and the 3rd Andalusian Young Flamenco Artists Competition in Seville (2012).
These accolades have consolidated his position within the national flamenco scene.
Artistic activity and flamenco projects
Throughout his flamenco career, Manolín García has accompanied up-and-coming flamenco singers and dancers, while also taking part in television recordings and live performances.
In the recording field, he released his first solo album, Amanecer en la Luna, produced by percussionist Pakito Suárez, “El Aspirina”. The album features a varied repertoire spanning different flamenco styles, including guajiras, siguiriyas, granaínas, tarantas, malagueñas, tangos, jaleos from Extremadura and bulerías, demonstrating both stylistic range and interpretative maturity.
Following this, Manolín García has developed an extensive teaching career. He is currently a lecturer at a conservatoire in Mérida and at a music school in Cantos. His teaching reflects a strong commitment to passing flamenco on to new generations, maintaining a balance between tradition and academic training.
