Aitana Rousseau: a flamenco dancer with a new artistic vision

Aitana Rousseau is one of the most compelling artists in contemporary flamenco. As a flamenco dancer (bailaora), her work combines deep respect for tradition with a fresh contemporary perspective, establishing her as a distinctive presence on the flamenco scene.

She has performed in a variety of international flamenco programmes and debuted her own choreographic works, demonstrating both versatility and a clear commitment to the evolution of flamenco.

Her appearances in flamenco tablaos, festivals and cultural programmes have positioned her as a flamenco ambassador, capable of connecting audiences with powerful emotions through movement and the expressive language of flamenco dance.

Aitana Rousseau’s performances show how flamenco can engage with modern audiences without losing its traditional roots.

Training and artistic development

Aitana Rousseau Cañadas was born in Almería in 2000 and showed a strong dedication to dance from an early age. She began her training at the Kina Jiménez Professional Dance Conservatoire in her hometown before continuing her studies at the Andalusian Dance Centre in Seville, both institutions recognised for their technical and artistic rigour.

Her talent led her to join leading dance companies, performing in productions at major events such as the Festival de Jerez in 2019. That same year, she took part in productions including Electra, Invocación, Centenario Antonio Ruiz Soler and La Bella Otero.

This experience within top-tier companies enabled her to master the technical foundations of flamenco while developing strong stage presence and dramatic expressiveness, qualities that now define her as a flamenco dancer.

Original productions and outstanding flamenco

One of the most significant milestones in her career is her solo debut with Anatomía Del Límite, a production born from a process of personal reflection and presented at the Miradas Flamenkas 2025 series in Madrid.

This production explores deep-running emotions and intimate aspects of being, using a powerful yet sensitive physical language that engages with music, singing (cante) and contemporary flamenco textures.

In addition, Aitana has performed in productions such as Maridaje, alongside flamenco singer Sonia Miranda, presented in flamenco venues across Madrid. Her work integrates seamlessly with other artistic expressions, contributing to high-quality flamenco programmes.

She also regularly takes part in flamenco cycles in Madrid, sharing the stage with other artists and showcasing the richness and diversity of contemporary flamenco.

Up-and-coming flamenco dancer with a distinctive flamenco style

Aitana Rousseau’s career continues to grow, with an expanding international presence. Her unique combination of technical skill, stage presence and emotional depth positions her as one of the most promising flamenco dancers of her generation.

Through her performances, collaborations and educational work, she not only stands out on the flamenco stage but also demonstrates a strong commitment to preserving and evolving flamenco as a living, ever-changing art form.
