Jesús Fernández: flamenco roots and training

Born in Cádiz, he began his training when he was six years old  in the flamenco dancing academies of Pepín Muñoz and Pilar Ogalla, extending his training later on with such great artists such as Javier Latorre, Israel Galván, Alejandro Granado, Antonio Canales, Mario Maya or Charo Cruz, amongst others. At the age of sixteen he was awarded the National Flamenco Dance Prize in Estepona (Málaga). 

Throughout his career Jesus Fernández has performed in some of the most prestigious flamenco venues in the world, obtaining success and accolades. He has worked with some of the greats of the flamenco world and has taken part in important international flamenco festivals. His versatility has allowed him to explore different aspects of flamenco dance, from the most traditional flamenco shows to the most innovative modern flamenco shows. 

Jesús Fernández’s movement is characterised by his strength, energy and impeccable technique. However, beyond that technique, it is his capacity to transmit raw emotion that makes him different. His dance is a constant dialogue between tradition and innovation where classic movements blend with contemporary elements, creating a unique and captivating flamenco show.

In his role as a dance teacher in the Danza Fortea Dance School, Jesús Fernández plays an essential part in the training of new talent in the flamenco dancing world. THe Danza Fortea Dance School is well-known for its rigorous focus and its commitment to excellence in the teaching of dance, including traditional flamenco and contemporary flamenco. 

Jesús Fernández teaches flamenco technique, improvisation and choreography, giving his students an integrated training that covers all aspects of flamenco dancing. His experience and deep knowledge of flamenco allows him to offer a valuable practical perspective which helps students to develop their own style and artistic path.
